Tal everyone of the Gorean Campus and the Gor world. Its another week and another story. I am pleased to share the article about one of our teachers Ubar Kerok Himura who comes from Rorus. We are very excited to welcome here to our wonderful staff where he will be teaching his new course Sundays at 2:30pm, starting September 6th, at the Gorean Campus. Here we will learn all about 'How to Create your Own Story Line' and we know whenever we are new to a role play it is hard to know where to begin. He will also help those who wish to learn how to make it as realistic as you can and expanding it over the course of time. It is sure to be exciting. So please relax and enjoy the interview with Ubar Kerok Himura.
Kerok Himura: knocks on the door
Kuulei 'Tal Sir. Please come inside.' looks up from her scrolls and smiles. Seeing the girl and nods. 'Thank you for coming.'
Kerok Himura : your welcome
Kuulei 'My name is Lady Ku'ulei and I am the Scribe Assistant for the Gorean Campus it is nice to meet you Sir.'
Kerok Himura I am Kerok Himura. Ubar of Rorus this beast is shula.
Kuulei She pulls out a fresh scroll, dates it and starts to write. 'Aye well met. 'Perhaps your girl can serve you. water, juice or Black Wine?' smiles. 'I don't have any paga or mead.'
Kerok Himura: I am fine thank you. Do you need anything?
Kuulei 'I usually try to do an interview once a week with the teachers on staff and I hear that you will be teaching the Story lines?" gestures to her minted tea. 'Thank you no.'
Kerok Himura: that is correct.
Kuulei 'Your name Himura is quite popular. Can you tell me how you began and where you came from?'
Kerok Himura Well I personally am from the barrens.. A dustleg village that was raided.. The Himura's are a clan. The clan invites members to Join and when i was approached i took the clan name. You see it often because i have thirty children
Kuulei smiles and writes. 'Ahh I see. So are all of you are part of the clan who joined? Well then you answered my question' her eyes opens wide at the thought of thirty children and looks down at her own belly,. 'That is quite a milestone and how do you keep track of them all?' chuckles. 'By the way does the Himura clan hail from the Pani lands?'
Kerok Himura I have my companion keep track of them in her scrolls. Mostly i just ask here when some one says tal father or grand father which one they are" chuckles
Kuulei smiles. 'My regards than to your companion. So the Himura name is there a story? Does the clan come from the Pani lands?' she wasnt sure if he wished to talk about that or not but she smiled and paused in her writing.
Kerok Himura Actually the Himura are not Pani. The clan itself originated some twenty or so earth years ago. Formed from killers.
Kuulei 'Interesting. Has it changed since then?' she pulled out another scroll dipping her quill into the black ink.
Kerok Himura 'Well it has changed a bit because it is no longer just killers in the clan.. There are many castes now..
Kuulei 'Thats wonderful as I have seen so many in passing and its nice to belong to somewhere that you can call home. So tell me since coming from the barrens and being part of a clan how did you end up in Rorus?'
Kerok Himura chuckles "That is a very long story that has taken a lifetime.. To condense it though i was Ubar of Harfax until betrayed by a very wicked woman.. I ended up in exile with a few very loyal followers. We moved to Teletus until we could raise an army and take back HArfax. In the war Harfax was burned to the ground and i destroyed the home stone. The armies and those followers that were still with me then when to Jad where i became Ubar there.. When Treve attacked Jad and the priest kings burnt it to the ground i moved to Rorus. Started as a spear there and worked up until i eventually became Ubar there
Kuulei 'That is fascinating indeed. I am sure being an experienced fighter as you have proved to be you must have a lot of stories to tell. Is Rorus still at war Sir? And what can you tell me about your home stone and if someone is looking for a place to live what is the one thing that would entice them to live there?'
Kerok Himura Right now Rorus is not at war.. The last war we were in just ended a few months ago. There are a few cities rattling there sabers but none attacking except for the north who do tend to raid now and again. I would say that our village with its open spaces and our people are what entice most people to live in Rorus
Kuulei smiles as she listens. 'I have never had a chance to visit Rorus and I would love to do so one day.. Warrior to teacher? Can you tell me what made you decide on becoming a teacher here?'
Kerok Himura Well one of your teachers brought some students to Rorus for a tour.. I gave the tour and was contacted by the administration asking if i would teach. We talked a bit and decided that Sim Management would be the first class i taught.. When that one ended i looked for what needs i have seen over the years and decided to try and help people create story lines.. Since out of all the RP in my opinion story lines are the most fun
Kuulei smiles to him. 'Yes I believe that was Panner and it seems to be a popular venue. I am not sure where the next city will be though. When i think of storylines i was an 18 yr old girl sitting in a slave room waiting for an owner to buy me because I wanted rp. This was in IMVU another venue to here. Well a Master came in from Gor and bought thus began my life as a slave and it has been ten years later. I heard about SL and came here changed to a FW and well here I am. I wish I had someone to help me with my backstory as it is always evovling. What can a person new in Gor or any rp learn from your class?'
Shu'la mumbles how to toss people off the wall into the moat
Kerok Himura Well the first part of the class will be how to develop that back story .. which is very important for the rest of your life because that is your first and longest lasting story line.. We will go into the importance of keeping notes and using what happens to you to make your character grow just like in RL.. Once we have done that then we will be going in to how to create stories that you can start to bring other people in .. Like my family's story and my clans story.. For the Himura clan if everyone that is a Himura was here still in SL Gor and RPing we would have somewhere around 200 people involved in that particular story line
Kuulei smiles as she does a sketch of him holding the two scrolls in front of her. 'That does sound exciting for someone new coming in. For myself I am still fine tuning my own. It seems easy to make up a family and largely from what I see many Free Women look for a mate so they can begin their lifestory and yet have a problem with it. Any advice on that? would it also be easier for them to just create a mate as a NPC since there are more women than men?'
Kerok Himura: well you could do that i am not a fan of the NPC i think it takes away from the possibilities of what could happen.. As for advice on finding a mate. If all the woman of Gor would get their male friends to try it and learn to RP we would have a lot more men and Gor could use the new blood.. *smiles
Kuulei laughs softly and winks. 'Good idea.' chuckles. 'I should recruit some from IMVU and send them to you for training.' grins. 'I know your class begins Sundays at 230p I believe? If someone came to you what advice can you give them for their life story to begin with?'
Kerok Himura first of all i would advise to keep it realistic.. Back stories of ferel torive mambas just tell every person to you try to RP with that you have no concept of how Gor is or what would be possible. I know everyone wants to be unique but some things are just so far out of the realm of where your RPing that people just stop RPing when they see that kind of thing
Kuulei 'I agree and I had seen one man who was a Torvie with fangs and I have never heard of such in the books. He seemed to be more vampire than Gor to me. Thank you for the advice and of course it helps if one reads the books too.There was a time to rp Gor one had to read the books. Is there any story from your past that sticks out in which you wish to share?'
Kerok Himura When i first started i had not read a single book. Over the course of years i started to get curious about what people said were btb and what were onlineisms and started to read them. My Character grew a great deal over those years because i understood the place we RP in better. so i would completely agree that reading the books helps you a great deal
Kuulei 'Yes.Sir Kerok thank you so much for your time and it truly has been a pleasure in getting to know you and even I am excited for your class. For the article I will be editing and not pasting the log but making it more conversational. I will let send you a message once it is done and published. I also hope to go to one of your classes as well. It was nice to meet you and thank you for coming in.' smiles and taps her left shoulder. 'I wish you and your homestone well."
Kerok Himura: it was nice to meet you as well. I look forward to seeing the article. I wish you well. Come mine
Kuulei 'Thank you Sir.'

Interview with Orochi Masato one of the oldest Pani and a Teacher at the Gorean Campus
Welcome to another edition of the Gorean Campus Blog. I had an opportunity to sit down and speak to one of our teachers, Orochi Masato who teaches all about the Pani and soon will be teaching about Tarns. Please take a moment to read all about this fascinating man and his story.
Kuulei smiles as she just reaches her office. 'Tal Sir. Please have a seat.' as she takes a seat, she realizes she forgot her veil and lucky she had a spare one in her robes and slips it on . 'Please excuse me I came from home.'
Orochi Masato of course
Kuulei taking out a scroll and a quill from her hair she places it on her desk. 'Let me introduce myself. My name is Lady Ku'ulei and I am a staff Scribe for the Campus. Can you tell me your name and about yourself Sir?'
Orochi Masato : Im Orochi things about me well i have been doing gor since late 2011 sort of dove in. Decided too try i have done a Allot of roles both in BTB and in GE and have role played quarter of all cultures in gor Pani being Longest. I am disliked by some sects in gor because i am a good fighter/tarnsman hum not sure what else too say.
Kuulei smiles warmly at him as she writes. 'You mention you have been roleplaying the Pani culture for a long time. May I ask what island and village you are from as well as the name of your clan? what made you interested in that part of Gor as well and have your read any of the Gor books to fine tune your character?'
Orochi Masato as for island and village Pani islands are not really given names so not particularly plausible too say and Village is same way due too his back story and his ideology. Allot of his past is pretty unknown to him in character well allot of why was i first discovered Pani on my giani avi and Dove in too fill time larl rper.I also have ben researching/studying edo era and earlier for over 14 years now. I have red through most of Pani books tho allot of knowledge or memorization has eluded me due too how frantic busy rp and rl can be but enough too Help my character and myself enjoy the role for over 3 years now.
Kuulei she listens as she sketches him and finds his story fascinating. 'In my past when I started Gor IMVU as a slave I roleplayed in Pani but it failed because not too many were comfortable or had enough knowledge to play the part. Being part chinese I could identify with my role and as a dancer then I could dance pani which came naturally to me. Do you find that to be true that the reason why many of the pani sims dont survive is because of ignorance? what would you recommend for someone starting out and wanting to learn about being Pani?'
Orochi Masato well there are a Mirad reasons why Pani sims falter give me a few too type this could be a Long one
Kuulei 'yes please many will benefit from your answer Sir so please go ahead.' smiles as she takes a sip of water and pours a glass for him.
Orochi Masato Pani are a fractured role not because of gor but because of pop culture Mainstream media anime.They are a big part people come too gor and want too pick up a Katana and act like its kill bill afro samurai or a Mirad of other things from tv.That being sad also deals with Pani in SL gor we are all very different ideologies behind Pani.Reason i started teaching was because of another gor school was letting a man teach pani where Chinese and Korean and not Japanese so thats why i started.Another Major issue is raid culture gor is just as much about raid culture as Roleplay culture pani islands being hidden means the raid culture is minimalist at best unless theres another pani sim capable of raiding them and when men do not get raid itch satisfied they often flock too a place they can weather it is in BTB portion of gor or the gorean evolved portion.
Kuulei smiles as she looks up. 'i do myself enjoy the anime part on my own time as well as the Korean dramas and I do admire the Japanese as well. Though I am part asian mixed with polynesian it does work in my favor. Growing up I loved the Shogun shows on TV where Shinosuke I think that was his name would dress as a commoner to keep tabs on his people and many would not recognize him. Only in the end would he come to have them committ hatakiri for their crimes and he in flull dress they wold then bow before him. I do believe most of what you sa is true but it still leads to ignorance or the failure to want to learn beyond that of anime,GE and more. So let me pose this question for you? Do your prefer Ge or Btb Gor? And also where you reside if its southern or northern how do you retain who you are and bring that to your interactions with others?"
[
Orochi Masato ): well i was a gorean evolved raider for awhile and people still think of me as such but i have done fought and did things that well i grew out of it.Sometimes i stray too gorean evolved for a fight or two but i find it boring meaningless raiders combat just for traffic or stats bores me these days so i am in by the book sims now. currently im a red caste captain in Ar and the Head tarnsman retaining myself well these days i try my best too remain calm and interact same with everyone. Tho that is Harder as by the book has Many inconsistency in it but thats just flow as time progress things change.
Kuulei 'When I was in Viktel Aria as a Scribe i had the opportunity to meet Samira the Ubara. She is a very nice person. Please send my regards to her. I am now freelance I suppose but still maintain my passion for law. Can you tell me about how you grew up, your parents and any siblings you may have? Also was it hard learning to fight and be good at it? i lknow in IMVU they have a fighting style called T-1 all the way to T-5 which involves in turn postings a atack and then a defense. Have you heard of it? They hold tornaments and its much more than here hitting and attacking, they use words more as para when the fight."
Orochi Masato as for parents again not something Orochi really knows as his back story.I do have a sister icly as well.as for combat well yes and no in Long term gm combat is really like a Mathematical equation once you memorize numbers things of that it does become easier too learn.as for text combat i used to do it in forum combat but the 2-4 paragraph posts per person wore me out on doing that Particular style.
Kuulei chuckles and smiles. 'Yes it can be very time consuming. For the women I am sure they are dying to know is there a companion or one in the future maybe? Also do you have any slaves? What can you tell me you see in your future as far as your character?'
Orochi Masato (snowtora): i am companioned yes and as for slaves none are presently active. As for my character hard too say i leave it pretty Malleable for now i see myself in Ar till it closes .
Kuulei 'Thats wonderful. As far as a slave if you are looking for one what does she have to have to be a good slave for you? Also what inspired you to become a teacher here as well?'
Orochi Masato: well i always prefer too just teach slaves on my likes and dislikes my Habits more then set up some form of i dislike this or that or want this.as i previously states i started teaching because i saw people teaching role playing Pani in ways unfitting the role.
Kuulei nods as she writes. 'i am sure many slaves will be excited to know that. May the contact you or just go to the city of Ar?' pauses. 'Now many of the teachers have their reasons and yours being justified. When you started here before teaching did you take classes here too? also how did you express your desire to teach? Were you approached or did you approach Krista?'
Orochi Masato i have known Jane awhile and i got in touch with her talked it and started from there never really attended too many classes here a few here or there.As for slaves they are free to contact me or seek me out in Ar
Kuulei nods and smiles. 'May I ask what classes do you teach besides Pani and are there more in your future? Also did you see a difference when you taught the culture of the Pani and what was the results from the class? Positive or negative?'
Orochi Masato i also teach tarn classes as well information on tarns and such. As for positive or negative as a teacher i always hope i make a positive influence and a positive class but always hard too tell
Kuulei 'yes and I am sure many of the teachers will agree with you. Would you like to share a story for the readers, one experience you had? Also any words of encouragement to others who may wish to go into the Pani world and also teaching?'
Orochi Masato: im not best at storys Forgive me.as for a encouragement all i can say is that despite Pani sims rising falling within days of its opening always Pani sects in btb sometimes in obscure small groups or migrating but there always there.
Kuulei 'Yes I have seen them about. You mentioned you were studying Edo. Can you tell me what you have learned so far and how it will help you with your character's story and when will the Tarnsmen class begin?'
Orochi Masato hard too say Most it helps me with is understanding mind set or how Pani are but JN also writes gor also makes them different so its hard too transition my study into gor and use them properly.i Believe my tarn classes are starting again soon i know my Pani classes started up again earlier this week.
Kuulei finishes her writing and seals it. 'i am so glad we had an opportunity to meet and others may be able to get to know or teachers. The article will appear by tomorrow. Due to TOS rules i do not show the chatlog but instead make it more conversational and if I may have your permission to edit itt and have it appear in our blog? also i would like to finish my sketch of you if I may/ i can either take your sketch here or standing up or somewhere on the sim. Whatever you prefer?'
Orochi Masato (snowtora): that is fine and of course and go ahead and do you're sketch
Kuulei ''Thank you.' she would lift her scroll as she sketched him with partial background of the window. 'Give me a moment please."
Orochi Masato of course
Kuulei as she finished her sketch, he was almost beautiful like a painting, transfixed in time in which only paintings could memoralize. 'Thank you Sir. May i say it was a pleasure meeting you and an honor. Thank you for meeting with me and when the article comes out may I add you so I may let your know what website to go to for your article? also do you have an questions for me?"
Orochi Masato of course
Kuulei 'thank you very much.' smiles and rises. 'i wish you well and safe paths to you. Domo Arigato.'
Orochi Masato : aye of course rest well
Kuulei 'thank you Sir.'
Kuulei smiles as she just reaches her office. 'Tal Sir. Please have a seat.' as she takes a seat, she realizes she forgot her veil and lucky she had a spare one in her robes and slips it on . 'Please excuse me I came from home.'

Interview with Physician Jerrod, a Campus Medical Instructor
Lady Ku'ulei, Scribe Staff
Gorean Campus
08-11-2015
Today I had the opportunity to speak to Physician, Mentor, former HOC of Rorus and one of our teachers at the Gorean Campus. We met on campus amid the backdrop of the mountains and small lake that housed the swans people were allowed to feed at Campus. Along the perimeter there were lush greenery and beautiful flowers. The day was cool with light trade winds and Lar Torvis high in the sky.
Sitting on the bench beside me is Jerrod Moonwalker a man well respected in the medical field as well as among his peers. I was extremely honored to sit beside the man as he began to tell me his story.
Jerrod Moonwall; Tal Lady Kuulei
Lady Ku'ulei walks up to him admiring the swans. 'Tal Sir. Thank you for meeting me. Would you like to sit?'
Lady Ku'ulei places her bag on her lap. Taking out a scroll and quill. Then dates her document. 'Shall we begin?"
Jerrod Moonwall: As you wish
Lady Ku'ulei 'First let me formally introduce myself. I am K'uulei as you know. I am the Assistant Scribe here on staff and each week I am doing an interview with our teachers so others can get to know you better. So please relax and take your time.' smiles and takes her scroll closer to her. Then dips her quill in the ink. 'Can you tell me about yourself and where are you from? Also what inspired you to be a Physician?'
Jerrod Moonwall waits patiently and toss's some old bread to the swans
Jerrod Moonwall: Well I'm Jerrod Moonwall as you know Son of Kerok and member of the Himura clan.
I was born of the Warriors, then due to need worked for a time as a slaver. But I never really felt at home
Then My Sister Sammie inspired me to take up the craft of healing.
Lady Ku'ulei nods as she listens. Smiling to him to continue.
Jerrod Moonwall: I've found being a healer one of the most rewarding careers there is. Once I knew my skills I practiced and practiced and after awhile I felt the need to share what I've learned to others..
So now I teach when I can, and try to help other inspiring healers.
Lady Ku'ulei looks up and smiles. 'Can you tell me one thing you enjoy about being a Healer? Also what city did you hail from?' nods as she writes. 'Yes obviously you are a teacher and here to inspire others as well.'
Jerrod Moonwall: Healing is a mystery and well I guess I love to solve the mysteries that are presented to me. I enjoy getting to know the people that come for aid.There are so many interesting people out there being a healer gives me a place to meet them and get to know them all the better as well.
Lady Ku'ulei smiles as she pulls out a fresh scroll and continues to write. 'Yes as I adore my passion of being a Scribe, You are from Rorus is that correct?"
Jerrod Moonwall: Yes, currently of Rorus Though it wasn't the city I was born to, its one I've been in for many a year now.
Lady Ku'ulei 'I can understand that as ii was born in Aghri though I had left a long time ago. Can you tell me where you were born and what caste were your parents?"
Jerrod Moonwall: 'Its been so long ago I don't really recall. As to my parents, Kerok is of the Warriors and my mother was of the Scribes.
[Lady Ku'ulei pauses as she writes. 'How interesting that the caste you chose is totally opposite of what you were born into. Yet sometimes we truly don't know where our passion lies till later. Were your parents supportive of your choice?'
Jerrod Moonwall: Yes, They have been very supportive I was a little worried with father being such a known warrior and most of my younger brothers being warriors. But I think I've patched him up enough now that he is thankfull for my skills.
Lady Ku'ulei chuckles. 'Yes being a Physician does have it's rewards. So can you tell me what did you like about Rorus that made you decide to stay there and if you can describe it for others who may wish to find a home?'
Jerrod Moonwall: Well for me Family was the most telling reason I went to Rorus, outside of that I like that Rorus isn't one of the large cities, its a small town with good people. I've always found something to do.
It has a rich history and has been around a very long time.That means it has staying power and not likely to be gone to the City of Ashes any time soon.
Lady Ku'ulei smiles. Dipping her quill in ink. 'i have never gone to Rorus but from what I can tell it seems lovely from what others has said.' then looks at him. 'Yes we all know how that is. Just for the sake of it as many women I am sure wish to know. Are you single and do you have a family?'
Jerrod Moonwall: I have a life long companionship with Lady Junia Melody We have been together for over 5 years now. I also have 3 kids, 1 became a warrior, the daughters took up the profession of physicians.
Lady Ku'ulei smiles and pulls out another scroll. 'How wonderful for you and congratulations. Are any of your daughters enjoying being a green?'"
Jerrod Moonwall: Yes Gwen works in the North and Luna use to work in the north as well but has disappeared I fear. *frowns a moment*
Lady Ku'ulei 'Oh I am sorry to hear that. I am sure she must be busy and like any child they make us worry.' smiles to him. 'If there is one thing you can recommend in learning to an Apprentice what would it be?'
Jerrod Moonwall thinks for a moment. "My recommendation is don't get so stuck on detail and correctness, but to relax and let your mind help paint the mysteries that is our Trade craft."
Lady Ku'ulei smiles as she agrees. 'I also think compassion works well for the patient too yes? How long does it take for one to get promoted as well?'
Jerrod Moonwall: One of my joys is writing stories and poems so this always goes well for me when doing my work Promoted what do you mean? And yes a good side bed manner is always helpful
Lady Ku'ulei 'Thank you for that advice I am sure many will appreciate that. What I guess I was trying to say is many Apprentices get stuck on getting promoted fast so any advice on that?'
Jerrod Moonwall: I personally feel being a physician is your first calling, Extra work like Chief or Head of Caste. Is not nearly as rewarding. If your interest is being the next Chief Physician it is often based on opportunity. It can happen as soon as your a physician to years later. Depending on what, where and how you want to pursue it. But mostly have a level head and friendly attitude. As a formal Head of Caste I enjoyed my time but I was just as happy to hand the keys over to someone else and concentrate on my craft.
Lady Ku'ulei nods to him and finishes her writing. 'Sir it was a pleasure for me to sit here with you and learn who you are. The man, the Physician and how family and your craft is important to you. May I sketch you if you can stand somewhere so I may include it in the interview?'
Jerrod Moonwall: Was a pleasure.
Lady Ku'ulei takes out a different tpe of scroll and her larger quill, dipping it into the charcoal and starts to sketch. Please stand still for me.'
Lady Ku'ulei As she finished she smiles. 'I am done and thank you Sir. I will edit the interview and it will appear in our blog. I will send you the website should be by tonight. It was a pleasure and I wish you well.'
Jerrod Moon[wall: I wish you well.Maybe someday I'll share some of my stories with you Until next time peace be with you.
I must say I really enjoyed our time together and he is a very nice man. Once you get him talking there is a wealth of information to be gained. Until next time for Part II with Jerrod and his stories, This is Lady Ku'ulei reporting from the Gorean Campus. Scribe Staff.

Lady Ku'ulei, Scribe Staff
Gorean Campus
< www.goreancampus.com >
Greetings to all of the Gorean Campus, Staff, Teachers, Students, Colleagues and visitors. This week I have had the pleasure of interviewing one of the most respected Physicians in Gor. Her name is Lady Gem, she is an accomplished Physician, Healer and Veterinarian. She is also a FW dancer and an instructor here at the Gorean Campus where she teaches Medical Envoy and Surgery coming soon.
Please enjoy her story as I met with her in my office at the Gorean Campus.
Lady Gem
Gorean Campus Interview
Date; 08085 800pm
Lady Gem smiles walking up to the door as her office was just a bit farther away. Knocks on the door softly having received a message from Lady K'uulei the assistant Scribe for the Gorean Campus. Listening not sure if she was inside she waited.
Lady Ku'ulei Ever since she had took the job of Assistant Scribe she had been busy which she loved. Now that she left Viktel Aria a sim in which they preferred males over women she could be herself. She had been looking over her scrolls as she heard the knock on the door. Closing her folder she spoke softly. 'Tal please come inside.'
Lady Gem hearing the soft voice, turned the knob and walked inside. Pausing for a moment she looked towards the Scribe. 'Tal Lady Ku'ulei, I understand you wished to interview me?' she hovered near the chair looking around the office knowing Krista had mentioned a Scribe would be getting in touch with her.
Lady Ku'ulei smiles looking up at Lady Gem and rising briefly gesturing toward the chair. 'Yes Lady Gem we hadn't been formally introduced but I heard so much good things about you. Please take a seat.' She then sits back down on her chair, retrieving a fresh scroll and dipping her quill in the blue ink.
Lady Gem smiles as she steps inside and eyes the chair and takes a seat. Crossing her legs. 'Yes what a delight to meet you as well. So how can I help you?'
Lady Ku'ulei she places her quill down and smooths her parchment having already dated the document. 'Thank you for coming. I know you are a busy person and thank you for making time for me. As you know I am Lady Ku'ulei. I am a Scribe Assistant and one of my duties is to do interviews with our teachers. I hope you don't mind being in the limelight as I am sure many of our staff, colleagues, students and teachers would love to learn more about you. So please be yourself and answer as candidly as you can as if it's just you and I having a casual conversation.' smiles as she gestures to some tea and water. 'Please help yourself.'
Lady Gem as she digests everything she has said, she leans forward to pour herself some water in the cool glass and topping it with tospit. Taking a sip she leaned back. 'i am very honored but I am a simple person and so will try my best.' Taking another sip she smiled. 'So what would you like to know?"
Lady Ku'ulei as she picks up her quill again she dipped it once more into the ink. 'Well for starters who you are, where are you from and what made you decide to be a Physician?' studies her closely
Lady Gem cradles her glass in her hand. 'Well I was born in Callera of which is my home still. I am a Chief Physician there. However my Mother is a Physician and healer. I was born in Callera but my father was of the North. I do not know him as something happened with he and my mother and so in her third trimester she left him and came home to Callera. As a child growing up I would ask her questions about him but she would always get quiet and so as time went on I stopped asking.' Her eyes grew thoughtful for a moment. 'Later I would meet a Northern man named Wulfheard and he had red hair and green eyes. Very tall and handsome..He swept me off my feet so to speak...chuckles.. and so began my life as his mate In Ice Inlet. Very different life there, the accent, the culture, they are very strong people, they embraced me and mayhap perhaps I carried Norse blood in my veins as well. There I became a healer like my Mother for a time and as I kept in touch with her she eventually left to go back to the North in Hulneth which is where she remained.' pours more water for herself as her mouth gets dry.
Lady Ku'ulei listens and nods as she keeps up with her writing. 'That's quite a story. How long were the two of you together and did you have any children? But more importantly what or who inspired you to become a Physician?' she then paused to take a sip of her tea.
Lady Gem sipping more of her water she thought back to her time as Wulf's mate then her eyes changed into sadness. 'We were together for many moons until he left me for the city of dust. At this time I was carrying our second child and was almost due to give birth. My son Selianae was already 8 yrs old. Yet it was during this time our clan was in dispute with another neighboring village and hatred was rampant. As we battled with them my Wulf was first Ax and he went to battle with them.' Her eyes grew misty as she placed the glass down. 'He never returned home, it was only later his faithful guards Shadashi and Mako they were of the Pani, but they swore oath to him to serve as he had saved their small village when he traveled to their village located on a small island in the sea. They told me my mate was stabbed in the back by a coward before they could get to him, as he lay dying in their arms the last words on his lips was my name.' she faltered a bit remembering. Rubbing her heart she murmured. 'The pain is still with me to this day.' Bites her lips. 'All I have of him is his cloak and shield. The very next day I went into labor and lost my daughter due to complications of stress. She didn't make it.' she held the tears at bay and sipped her water.
Lady Ku'ulei listening to her, she took another fresh scroll and wrote. Then she looked up feeling her pain as she too had tears in her eyes. Leaning over she touched her hand. 'I am sorry for your loss Lady Gem. I have not been companioned nor have children so I can only imagine the pain you must feel.' looking down she dipped her quill once more. Then smiles to her. 'I am sure your son must have brought comfort to your heart.'
Lady Gem smiles faintly and drinks the rest of her water. 'He would have yet in retaliation for the battle, the village we were in war with came at night and burned our homes and buildings down. I was on my way home from Keibel Hill while my Son and personal slave Molly died instantly in the fire that they had set. So arriving home the smoldering village left us in shock as myself and the Pani warriors fled to my house. Only to find the charred remains of my child and slave.' it was then she could not hold back the tears and she broke down. Removing a cloth from her robes she wiped her tears. 'It was too much for me. I had nothing left. I gathered what I could and said goodbye to the warriors who would return home to their village of the Pani people. I didn't know where to go and did not wish to burden my mother and so I found myself back in Callera.
I wasn't planning on going back to live there, but by chance the Ubar and his companion Danika a Physician at the time greeted me and they remembered me as a child and my Mother.
Lady Gem 'They asked me to stay and to be apprentice to learn under her as she wished to step down to be a kennel Mistress. So they gave me life again and inspired me to get certified. It was at the same time I practiced my healing skills in the wagons of Turia helping the main leader Roh when I could.' leaned back and blew her nose. 'in time the pain dulled and I lived.'
Lady Ku'ulei Her heart throbbed for her as she looked up. 'Such and inspiring story Lady Gem and I am sure many women will look up to and relate as well.' Smiles as she retrieves another scroll and asks. 'What can you tell me about Callera and how you managed to get promoted in less than three months and who was your mentor? Also what advice can you give to others who are just starting out?'
Lady Gem feeling a bit more relaxed she smiled. 'Callera is beautiful. From the lush green mountains to the various colors of wild flowers that line the land amid high peaked mountains with a hint of snow makes Callera seem majestic and serene. You have a sense of family even if you just meet these people. Though we are small, we are a tight group who care for each other, many of us have other things that keep us busy. For me its helping others but knowing we can always come back home to feel safe and secure. I have never looked back.' folds her hands. 'For me getting promoted I knew I wanted Lady Meetra as my mentor when I visited Thentis but being too young I could not stay there so while under her wings I traveled and I learned. I observed and participated whenever there was an emergency. I took classes here and in Tor as well as Thentis. I am thankful to have so many good people who helped me. Sir Ram was one in the field of Veterinarian in which I travel to help others and save their animals. Sir Snow, Lady E, Lady Carrie, Catherine, Scout and especially Lady Kaiila. With that goal in mind I made it happen and became a Physician and later a Vet. I was promoted by Lady Meetra and the Ubara Danika was able to step down and be a kennel Mistress where in time I was promoted to Chief Physician. Part of what I did as well was to practice in Olni and held the title of asst HOC. Lady Dahra and Lady Dove are still good friends and for a time I helped Port Kasra too until they closed down. So what I would say to others? Take your time and go at your own pace, everyone is different only you know yourself and whether you are promoted in 3 months or a year be the best that you can be.' smiles as she takes a breath.
Lady Ku'ulei smiles as she holds her mug of tea and sips. 'Sounds like very good advice to me. I understand you dance as well? I heard that you danced in the Thing Fair as well as took classes here for FW dancing and thus began your love of dance? Tell me about that.' smiles as she places her cup down and hovers over the parchment.
Lady Gem chuckles. 'Well I happened to go to the FW dance thinking it was a class about FW and not FW dancing. But as the huntress Ame talked more and more about the dancing I became more intrigued. Lady Dove my friend from Olni danced in the exhibition with me and it was so much fun. In a tribute to my mate and children I danced for them and yes whenever she needs me or even Nevar who is one of the founders of dance I am priviledged to go. The Thing Fair was a bonfire dance and it is common for FW to dance at festivals and such. I am proud to be apart of the dancing community and honored to dance as well.' smiles as she glows. 'I would recommend anyone to do that.'
Lady Ku'ulei laughs softly as she listens. 'I may just do that one day and thank you for sharing that with everyone.' bites the end of her quill. 'Now teaching here at the school was that something you always wanted to do and what classes can we expect from you? Please tell us something about each class please?'
Lady Gem smiles warmly at her. 'When I first started my career I hadn't even thought of teaching, I just wanted to make it.' shakes her head. 'But as time went on and I was given the opportunity to teach at Olni I was inspired and it was something I enjoyed. Later when I applied for the infirmary here and got the job and was promoted to Asst HOC of the infirmary. I was asked by Lady Lynn if I wanted to teach but she was not sure as normally the PCOG expects one to have at least a year before they can teach and so when I asked Lady Carrie she gave me the green light.' smiles as she remembers. 'I knew besides my love for animals in which during the spring fair for the PCOG i did a class. I wanted to keep teaching and so I chose Medical Enovy as well as Surgery. It was successful and there was an interest. I wanted to give the Physicians an opportunity to increase their roleplay as well as to give purpose in their role. The role of a Medical Envoy is like an Ambassador in which we bring all the greens together as one in terms of allies. They work alongside the blue Ambassador with a common goal in mind. I just finished the class in July and will repeat it in Jan 2016. Surgery is to start up in September and I am excited.'
Lady Ku'ulei smiles at her. 'You are a very busy person Lady Gem and I am humbled by you. I am sure many greens are looking forward to your Surgery class. What else is on the horizon for you?"
Lady Gem grins...'Well since Lady Lynn has resigned there are talks for a HOC of the infirmary here and I hope to be head of that and even if not I am sure whoever it is will be wonderful. Also since she left the healing classes the students have been in limbo so perhaps I will help with that too. We shall see.'
Lady Ku'ulei 'That sounds great and I am sure whether you are teaching, dancing or leading an infirmary, you always do a great job and inspire others. Is their a quote you would like to share as we wind down and any words of advice for others?'
Lady Gem smiles to her. 'Yes this quote is my favorite All creatures are not the same, nor is it necessary that they should be. To be sure, values are involved here, and one must make decisions. There is no single humanity, no single shirt, no correct pair of shoes, no uniform, even a gray one, that will fit all men. There are a thousand humanities possible. He who denies this sees only his own horizons. He who disagrees is the denier of difference, and the murderer of better futures.
Page 31 Savages of GOR
Lady Gem 'in other words let us choose not to be close minded but instead open, involved and not uninvolved, active and not inactive. But more importantly as healers let us care for the all forms of life in Gor. Thank you Lady Ku'ulei it was indeed a pleasure meeting you and I look forward to the article' she inclines her head to her and gathers her medicine bag.
Lady Ku'ulei 'As it was for me.' she smiles and rises shaking her hand. 'I am honored and if you do not mind I made a sketch of you for the article.' Smiles to her and looks down at her scroll. Until next time Gorean Campus another interview awaits with Sir Jerrod next week and as my interview with this wonderful Lady ends we are all the more better in getting to know her.
'This is Lady Ku'ulei for the Gorean Campus until next time I hope you enjoy.'
Lady Gem 'That is fine Lady Ku'ulei. I need to go as I have some paperwork to do. I wish you well.' she would rise and walks down to her office.

GOREAN DANCE JUDGES Q & A ~ June 28, 2015
the minutes of a Q&A of dance judges: Masters Ramius, Nevar, Koardan, & Mistress Janette
discussion on June 28th, 2015 at SGD ~ DGofG
~~~
[13:00] Nevar (nevar.lobo): ok maia , lets go
[13:01] Maia (fionna.carter) smiles softly "Yes my Master"
[13:01] Maia (fionna.carter) takes a deep breath and tries to look calm and relaxed being in the company of so many distinguished judges.
[13:01] Maia (fionna.carter): Greetings and welcome to the School of Gorean dance and the Dance Gardens of Gor. I have to say I was honored to be asked to facilitate this session as it's not often you get chance to put a group of dance judges under the spotlight.
[13:02] Koardan: stirs from his thoughts
[13:03] Maia (fionna.carter): Today I am delighted to be joined by Master Ramius. Ramius is a supporter of dance and a has been a dance judge for some time. He believes girls should dance as the individuals they are and embrace their uniqueness. He believes impromptu dancing is a fundamental skill, and girls should never think they can't dance because they feel they are not up to a competition. Being able to get up and entertain is a true skill and he encourages all girls to dance. No lights, no audience, no bickering, no glory needed. Just dance.
[13:03] Koardan grins.
[13:03] Lio (lionel.laszlo): thanks to all the girls and great dancers from the audience
[13:03] Koardan grins.
[13:03] Lio (lionel.laszlo): thanks to all the girls and great dancers from the audience
[13:03] Zenithblaze Fenwitch is online.
[13:03] Maia (fionna.carter): Master Koardan, has been a slaver at Port Haifa Academy since 2011, He has taken special interest in the art of Gorean dance, including sketching, music, performance, judging, and support of the community. He has learned deeper aspects of the art through classes at Port Haifa, the Academy of Gorean Dance at port Olni, his beast's Tavern series at Gorean Campus, and the judges certification series from the School of Gorean Dance.
[13:04] ﻜησѡ (snow.mistwood) claps for Master Ram
[13:04] Maia (fionna.carter): Mistress Janette, Head of Gorean Campus and a experienced dance judge//trained with Iris at the AGD
[13:05] Ramius (ramiusmarco): spies a bucket of rotten tomatoes... eyes narrow
[13:05] ﻜησѡ (snow.mistwood) claps for the lovely Mistress
[13:05] Maia (fionna.carter): and my Master, Master Nevar who neglected to give me his bio
[13:06] Nevar (nevar.lobo): figured she could write it
[13:06] Maia (fionna.carter): Before I open it up to the floor for questions, one of the benefits of facilitating this session is I get to ask my questions first. And actually I kind of cheated as I sent out my questions in advance as I was kind of curious to what their responses would be.
[13:06] Maia (fionna.carter): Every response was almost the same and I am going to use Master Koardan's reply because he so succinctly captures the essence of all the other responses.
[13:07] Koardan leans in with interest, a smile on his face.
[13:07] ﻜησѡ (snow.mistwood) blinks
[13:07] Maia (fionna.carter): "Gorean dance is the pinnacle of artistic expression by virtue of it's combination of feeling, writing, visual arts, music, community, and technology."
[13:07] Koardan: Wise words.
[13:08] Maia (fionna.carter): To me it shows that each of the judges here and a true understand of what goes into each of our dances, this is rare and not all judges understand the passion and energy we put into our dances
[13:09] Maia (fionna.carter): The second question I asked which I think will be a foundation for a lot of the discussion here today was "What disappoints you most about Gorean Dance?" Rather than me relaying their answers lets hear from the judges themselves.
[13:09] Maia (fionna.carter): I am going to ask Master Koardan to respond first
[13:09] Koardan: What disappoints me most is ...
[13:10] Koardan: when we lose any dancer
[13:10] Koardan: when they quit, out of frustration, or drama, or preassure.
[13:10] Koardan: learning or expert, it is a loss when they pause or quit. #
[13:10] Koardan: learning or expert, it is a loss when they pause or quit. #
[13:11] Koardan: Such is my largest dissapointment.
[13:11] Ramius (ramiusmarco): nods in agreement
[13:11] Nevar (nevar.lobo): well put Koardan
[13:11] Koardan: Thank you Nevar.
[13:11] Maia (fionna.carter) smiles
[13:11] Maia (fionna.carter): Mistress Janette
[13:12] janette Inglewood: well rather the same as Koardan and i promise i did not copy his homework....
[13:12] Koardan: (chuckles)
[13:12] ElieB Wyrd (elie.back): giggles
[13:12] nadi (nara.zsun): grins
[13:12] janette Inglewood: That there have to be losers, or should i say "non-winners" in a contest, often by the slightest of margins and these dancers may feel disheartened.
[13:12] janette Inglewood: ~ done
[13:12] janette Inglewood: ~ done
[13:12] Nevar (nevar.lobo) nods and nods
[13:13] Maia (fionna.carter) smiles softly "yes it can be really tough on a dancer, I have almost quit a few times due to pressures"
[13:13] Maia (fionna.carter): Master Ramius
[13:13] Ramius (ramiusmarco): Aren't we opening a can of worms with this question. Start throwing the rotten tomatoes now.
This answer is directed only at dance competitions, since this is a judge panel.
[13:13] Ramius (ramiusmarco): I would say my biggest disappointment is the tendency to stray from dance being Gorean. I hear, 'dance your heart' which has shifted to 'whatever you do is ok, pat pat pat on the head'
There are other dance venues. There are storytelling venues. I enjoy both. When i attend a GOREAN DANCE event, i expect to see a gorean dance. I completely understand a dancer needs to express herself etc etc but make sure you are expressing yourself in the right venue.
There has been a shift that is what I'm calling the 'head pat syndrome'. No matter the quality of what is put forth, a pat on the head is given. You walked into a dance competition to be judged. You are asking for an opinion. Don't expect a pat on the head.
Many girls won't compete anymore. Ask yourself, why is that? Has the "competition' run it's course?
done
[13:14] Eir (lizzy.starfall): better ask something else before i get hit with a tomato *giggles*
[13:14] Nevar (nevar.lobo): very well put Ram
[13:15] Maia (fionna.carter): Master I think you have hit one of the issues nicely on the head!
[13:15] nadi (nara.zsun): nods in agreement
[13:15] Maia (fionna.carter): My Master
[13:14] Eir (lizzy.starfall): better ask something else before i get hit with a tomato *giggles*
[13:14] Nevar (nevar.lobo): very well put Ram
[13:15] Now playing: Colton Ford - All My Love
[13:15] Maia (fionna.carter): Master I think you have hit one of the issues nicely on the head!
[13:15] nadi (nara.zsun): nods in agreement
[13:15] Maia (fionna.carter): My Master
[13:15] Nevar (nevar.lobo): I have a bit of a different answer to this... the loss of the girls or boys dancing is a great loss to the community but we have another part of the community that is forgotten so this is my answer
[13:16] Nevar (nevar.lobo): The Lack of Free who take part in dance and take the opportunity to explore those quotes in the book. The focus is always so much on the dancing slaves and at times of celebration the free should get out and dance as well.
[[13:16] Nevar (nevar.lobo): #
[13:16] Hathor01: when did dance competition start in Gor and why is there such a thing as dance competions?
[13:16] Maia (fionna.carter): wow i said it would be a great foundation
[13:17] Koardan nods to Nevar - good point brother.
[13:17] Maia (fionna.carter): Ok so I am opening it up to questions from the floor please type @ and I will come to you in turn
[13:17] Maia (fionna.carter): Eir
[13:17] Eir (lizzy.starfall) smiles to the judges "I have a question. in many artist events, the response of the audience is an important part in judging. Why wouldn't this aspect be brought into Gorean dance, even if it is not a block to check off on a notecard?"
[13:17] Hathor01: @
[13:18] Maia (fionna.carter): ohh who would like to answer that one
[13:18] janette Inglewood: @
[13:18] Maia (fionna.carter): Mistress please go ahead
[13:18] Koardan: @
[13:18] janette Inglewood: partly because one does indeed mark closely to what is on the card, partly because it may be the dancer has brought a lot of friends who cheer for them #
[13:19] Maia (fionna.carter): Master Koardan
[13:19] Nevar (nevar.lobo): nods
[13:19] Koardan: I like the idea of somehow including the audience opinion...
[13:19] Koardan: even if we need to consider how to remove the popularity favort
[13:19] Koardan: factor
[13:19] Ramius (ramiusmarco): @
[13:20] Koardan: some 'wisdom of crowds, poll, blind dance, etc
[13:20] Maia (fionna.carter): Master Ramius
[13:20] Ramius (ramiusmarco): The audience isn't a true factor because it is very easy to pack the audience with supporters. There have been blind events where dances are voted on. I haven't seen one organized in some time. Perhaps someone needs to organize one.
[13:20] Koardan: I also have a comment on the BTB competition point, ... for later. ty#
[13:20] Eir (lizzy.starfall): "Thank you Judges!" smiles at their answers "oh yes, i love the blind events"
[13:21] Maia (fionna.carter): Yes I entered the blind one last year Master and I have to say I was so much more nervous about that one than any other competition
[13:21] Maia (fionna.carter): My Master
[13:21] Nevar (nevar.lobo): In normal competition we are judging on the dance and technical part of the dance .. what happens if you include the dance is that everyone will cheer a dancer in the sands no matter how the dance is and that is one part of what Ramius was speaking about the pat your head theory
[13:22] ElieB Wyrd (elie.back): hmmmm i've never seen a blind event.. no pun intended :D
[13:22] Nevar (nevar.lobo): so its hard to consider what is true like or dislike from the crowd #
[13:22] Maia (fionna.carter): Nods in agreement
[13:22] Maia (fionna.carter): Hathor you have a question
[13:22] Koardan: (some voting tool perhaps) - listens to Hathor.
[13:23] Eir (lizzy.starfall): "Yes Master" smiles in agreement "it is a judgmental call.... umm yeah"
[13:24] тιvι ιnglεωood (tiviyah): @
[13:24] Maia (fionna.carter): If you have a question please type it out on a notecard in advance
[13:24] Koardan: Re books that Hathor asked earlier....- Even if competitions are not listed in the books, is it still fine to have people enjoy them, even if we label them as not BTB?
[13:25] phedre (littlegirletoile) is offline.
[13:25] Maia (fionna.carter): rachella lets go with yours
[13:25] Rachellla: some girls are in every contest and others just do one a year, does it make a different how look at the dance, what i mean is would you those well know judge with higher expectations ((not sure thats the right word i do hope so )), as for me personal looks like its often the same girls that win
[13:26] Maia (fionna.carter) looks to the judges to see who would like to answer first
[13:26] Honey Heart (h0neyheart) is online.
[13:26] Rachellla: should i say done?
[13:26] мєℓ ℬιαͼкℋєαяԏ (sweetmel81) is offline.
[13:26] janette Inglewood: @
[13:26] Maia (fionna.carter): Mistress Janette
[13:26] janette Inglewood: for me totally not, i do not consider who is doing the dance only the dance itself.
[13:27] Maia (fionna.carter) smiles
[13:27] Nevar (nevar.lobo) nods
[13:27] janette Inglewood: ~ done
[13:27] Nevar (nevar.lobo): @
[13:27] Maia (fionna.carter): My Master -- ooh this is going to be good -- grins
[13:27] nadi (nara.zsun): @
[13:28] Nevar (nevar.lobo): For me its about the dance like Lady Janette said but also I think we can do a bit better with what we are organizing to help get girls who have not danced in competitions dancing. I think i will stop there #
[13:29] Maia (fionna.carter): Master Ramius
[13:29] Ramius (ramiusmarco): For myself, I work very, very hard at being systematic and applying the same formula to each dance. It doesn't matter if you dance every week or once a year. If I see you once a year I'll most likely encourage you to dance again... smiles, especially if I liked it. done
[13:29] Rachellla smiles softly........ thank you for the answers
[13:29] Maia (fionna.carter): Thank you Master, I remember the encouragement you gave me the first time I danced in a contest
[13:30] Maia (fionna.carter): and for that I truly thank you
[13:30] Maia (fionna.carter): Tivi I think you were next
[13:30] object: Kyros Slade got offline.
[13:30] тιvι ιnglεωood (tiviyah): As much as judging tries its best to be Objective, we all know that, deep down, in some aspects, it is entirely Subjective. As a judge, your mood that day will affect your scores, or your personal feelings towards a person, no matter how much you try to keep it from doing so. What measures do you personally, or do you feel judges in general, should take to reduce the Subjectivity in judging as much as possible?
[13:30] Ramius (ramiusmarco): excellent question
[13:31] Maia (fionna.carter): who would like to tackle that one first?
[13:31] Koardan: @
[13:31] Maia (fionna.carter): Master Koardan
[13:31] Koardan: When they step into the sands, I forget their name. ....
[13:31] Koardan: al memories and opinions of their past triumphs and failures vanish
[13:32] Koardan: I judge the dance by that performance alone.
[13:32] Koardan: I don't care where they come from
[13:32] Koardan: I don't care who owns who
[13:32] Ramius (ramiusmarco): @ but give me a moment to type it
[13:32] Koardan: I don't care their gender
[13:32] Koardan: I am equally harsh to all.
[13:32] Koardan: #
[13:32] janette Inglewood: @
[13:32] тιvι ιnglεωood (tiviyah): Equally harsh. *Giggles* Thank You, Master.
[13:32] Koardan: (( winks ))
[13:32] Maia (fionna.carter): Mistress
[13:32] janette Inglewood: I truly do not consider the name of the dancer, and anyway i get confused by changing slave names and forget who is whom. If i am in a rotten mood they will all get tougher marks equally. ~ done
[13:32] Desire (alba.silverfall) smiles
[13:33] nadi (nara.zsun): grins
[13:33] тιvι ιnglεωood (tiviyah) grins at the changing slave names. Thank You, Mistress.
[13:33] Maia (fionna.carter): Master Ramius
[13:34] Nevar (nevar.lobo): @
[13:34] Ramius (ramiusmarco): As a judge I think very hard on HOW i judge. HOW i use those scorecards to be fair and consistent at every event. You are right, Tivi when you say a judge can be having a bad day. A judge needs to be aware of how to be consistent. What is the method they have developed for themselves to ensure their integrity remains above reproach. For me personally, this is very important.
[13:35] Maia (fionna.carter): excellent answer Master
[13:35] Maia (fionna.carter): My Master
[13:35] тιvι ιnglεωood (tiviyah) grins. Thank You, Master!
[13:35] Nevar (nevar.lobo): would like to say that yes there is some Subjectivity in the judging of dancers . I try very hard to judge the dance not the person . I have been judging contest with dancers who I have worked with for over a year and when they step into the pit they have to dance just like anyone else dances . There is no different in what i do from dance to dance .. If you come to me after when you get your scores i will tell you exactly what was in the dance that caused that score. If you are being scored on a 6 scale . and 3 is satisfied then if you get a three you have done something right .. if you get higher then something jumped out at me and if you get lower then you missed something . so i tend to have lower scores then most but i score the same.
[13:36] тιvι ιnglεωood (tiviyah) smiles. Thank You, Master.
[13:36] Maia (fionna.carter): Thank you, some excellent responses
[13:36] Maia (fionna.carter): Nadi you had a question
[13:37] nadi (nara.zsun): Yes I was replying to the question about audiences voting.......
[13:37] nadi (nara.zsun) depending on the event and the theme. Many times the audience are not educated to the criteria for dances or are new to Gor or have not read a book. The girls go to school and classes and study many hours. To open a dancers offering to an audience to vote on that perhaps like her music, or costume, or hair or such would be unfair to all her/his time spent doing it the proper way. It could become very unfair and discouraging to a hardworking dancer.
[13:37] Maia (fionna.carter): ohh
[13:38] Nevar (nevar.lobo): very good point nadi
[13:38] Maia (fionna.carter): Aini
[13:38] Eir (lizzy.starfall): @
[13:38] Aini (anneke.oddenfen): Thank you for permitting me to ask a question and thank you judges for taking your time to answer. I am curious as judges who have seen their fair amount of performances; what would you like to see dancers do more of in their performances?
[13:38] Rachellla: @
[13:39] Ramius (ramiusmarco): grins strike the word ORB from the dictionary!
[13:39] Nevar (nevar.lobo): @
[13:39] janette Inglewood: hehehe
[13:39] Ramius (ramiusmarco): @
[13:39] nadi (nara.zsun): LOL at Master Ramius
[13:39] Maia (fionna.carter) laughs
[13:39] Eir (lizzy.starfall) laughss
[13:39] Maia (fionna.carter): My Master
[13:39] Koardan: LOL ! (rolls orbs)
[13:40] Desire (alba.silverfall): @
[13:40] ElieB Wyrd (elie.back): aplaudes Master Ramius courage in the face of so many ORBS!
[13:41] Summer Wyrd (summerbreeze.svenska) giggles.. agreed
[13:41] Nevar (nevar.lobo): get more movement and emotions into their dances . get connected with what you are dancing about and dance. Also, there are a few pet peeves i have 1. there is no the in front of Thassa , 2. Ihn, Ehn and Ahn are all capatilized and 3. and know your plants and animals and how to use them in your dance ot make it more Gorean
[13:42] Maia (fionna.carter) starts scribbling down all these tips
[13:42] Maia (fionna.carter): Master Ramius
[13:43] Ramius (ramiusmarco): i would like to see dancers realize less is more. When i have to go back and re-read because there are so many adjectives for an adjective because of my flowing, crackling, softly bouncing, ta-sarna hued, ostlike curling of the thick locks of what the hell? it can be exhausting. It can sometimes get out of control. I settle in with a paga in hand and watch. Just dance for me. I'm a man. I'll like it.. smiles
[13:43] janette Inglewood: @
[13:43] ElieB Wyrd (elie.back): wiggles my lil fuzzy leem tail in excited agreement with master Nevar!
[13:43] Ązϊzα (riojadeice.orchid): giggles and nods
[13:43] Summer Wyrd (summerbreeze.svenska) falls over giggling
[13:47] Maia (fionna.carter): Ok i have a question from someone in the audience which I will ask on their behalf
[13:47] Maia (fionna.carter): I have be in SL Gor nearly 10 year now. Back in year one there was like only 10 Gorean sims that offered good roleplay. There would always be a dance competition for city anniversary, right before a tournament.
There was no panel of trained judges. Judges consist of an admin from various cities. Sometimes one judge... sometimes more.
First dance i enter i fail because every word i write i have convert from italiano to english. It would lose meaning in translation. But i keep on... my english improve with help of my Master. By dance 7 i nail it. Dance of the Tuchuks. I won... at that point i could write english... i could compete... i could dance impromptu in taverna. My message is to girls that use language as barrier not to dance. It is not barrier but do judges see it as so please.
[14:38] тιvι ιnglεωood (tiviyah) sticks her tongue out at Eli (too lazy for the 'e')
[14:38] Nevar (nevar.lobo): now One of the most important things that I try to teach when im working with judges is feedback and how important it is to you both positive and negative . it gives you the opportunity to grow from each dance . so for a new Judge i would probably stress that and give examples of why its important
[14:38] Nevar (nevar.lobo): thank you
[14:39] Maia (fionna.carter): Master Ramius
[14:39] ﻜησѡ (snow.mistwood): eeps!
[14:40] ﻜησѡ (snow.mistwood): Nearly two years ago, I was told the only reason I place in dance competitions is because my Master is a judge and other judges favor me. I stopped dancing in competitions and have only performed in exhibitions since then… im still the same dancer, pleasing only one person and I probably dance more and better now because of my Master and that fact I love Gorean dance. I teach and I have dancers seeking my advice now.
[14:40] Ramius (ramiusmarco): my advise to new judges ive mentored is to learn to give that feedback especially if its a lower score. i always try to state why, and will sometimes do a cut and paste of your dance to show you. judges need to realize those scores are looked at and if you're going to give someone a low score, say why so the dancer can improve. all judges, not just new, should be aware of that. sometimes time constraints makes it difficult but you need something in there.
[14:41] ElieB Wyrd (elie.back): who ever told you THAT snow never saw you dance! pfft
[14:41] Maia (fionna.carter) whispers "I understand that Snow"
[14:41] тιvι ιnglεωood (tiviyah) nods lots. Thank You Master Nevar and Master Ramius.
[14:42] Maia (fionna.carter): Ok so before we close and because I know we have a few girls here who are considering stepping into the sands
[14:42] Maia (fionna.carter): "What advice would you give to a new dancer who wishes to start competing"
[14:43] Nevar (nevar.lobo): @
[14:43] Maia (fionna.carter): My Master
[14:44] Ramius (ramiusmarco): @
[14:44] Nevar (nevar.lobo): Go to a lot of dances and watch get a feel for what its about and how its conducted. Then work on your dance and even find a mentor if you need to help you get over that first dance jitters. Finally just dance .. enter and take the step and once you do it you will be hooked .. maybe try an exhibition first to get your feet wet
[14:44] Ramius (ramiusmarco): dont be in such a hurry to compete. dance in taverns for fun, take snows tavern class shes amazing. dance in exhibitions. go to events, go to classes, get a lot of opinions, not just one. have fun.
[14:44] Ramius (ramiusmarco): have
[14:46] Maia (fionna.carter): Mistress Janette
